Together with our staff New Direction Community Church in Vancouver WA desire to ensure your experience with us will be life changing through the power of God. A Welcome Message From Pastor A.R. Hopkins Jr.
We pray that this ministry is a blessing to you in some way, whether you are visiting or looking for a church home. Our family is committed to promoting a friendly and nurturing church environment for people of every ethnic and racial background. The New Direction Community Church in Vancouver WA family is known for its love and hospitality, not just for those who are members of New Direction Community Church, but also for all who enter our church home. Our church family invites you to fellowship with us. We hope and pray that this brochure will help provide you with information about this fast growing ministry. This is a ministry with a purpose and you will see that with Christ, we can make a difference in your life and the lives of others. Pastor Hopkins developed a purpose statement when he was appointed the new pastor of New Direction Community Church in Vancouver Wa (formally known as Victory Temple). Within that purpose statement God revealed His plan for Pastor Hopkins to minister worldwide. As the Vision unfolded and the ministry grew, mission and evangelism became the main driving force and focus of the ministry.
Superintendent Hopkins in 2001 established a relationship with a young seminary student who had been referred to him. They stayed in contact and Pastor Hopkins mentored the young man who had started a church in Kumasi, Ghana. In 2004 Pastor Hopkins, and Assistant Pastor Elder Doyle took their first missionary journey to visit Pastor Boenteng Pastor Boateng sought to align his ministry with New Direction Community Church Ministries and it’s parent organization Church of God in Christ.
At the same time Superintendent Hopkins took his first missionary journey to Ghana he requested to visit an orphanage in the area. Since that visit New Direction Community Church Ministries has provided a storage tank and water faucet for the well at the Offin Children’s Center Orphanage just outside of Kumasi. The children where also given sheets for their beds. They love to see Pastor Hopkins for the candy he brings.
Superintendent Hopkins returned each year, conducting crusades and pastors and leadership conferences in Kumasi and Accra. In 2008 Superintendent Hopkins extended his ministry in Ghana. He presented an additional pastor and leader conference in the coast region and traveled to Zombo Lawra in the far West of Ghana. While in the village Zombo Lawra he met another young pastor, Alfred Bunwere who had established a small congregation. Pastor Bunwere expressed his need to Superintendent Hopkins to be under a leadership covering and his desire to be developed as a pastor. Superintendent Hopkins once again responded by sharing his vision within the structure of COGIC.
Pastor Bunwere chose to come under the umbrella of Victory Temple Ministries and the International Church of God in Christ. The village chief in Zombo Lawra was very impressed with the work and the message that Superintendent Hopkins brought to his village. The Chief donated the land to build the church, thereby establishing the second daughter church of Victory Temple Ministries International in Zombo Lawra, Ghana.

Each year Pastor and the Advisory Committee develop strategies and objectives for the year. The church in Vancouver Wa had a goal to purchase a van to provide transportation for the members who needed a ride to get to services and activities. The van is one more goal we have achieved this year. God is truly blessing us with the tools we need to fulfill our purpose of saving souls as we move into the first phase of evangelism. Pastor and First Lady sponsored a dinner at the Kennedy School to thank the members of the Leadership Team of New Direction Commuinity Church in Vancouver WA.
Each member was greeted by Pastor and First Lady with a rose. Everyone enjoyed the games and wonderful buffet. First Lady prepared a video showing the leaders at work in their various ministries. Each leader received a gift basket from Pastor and First Lady to show their appreciation for the hard work and commitment to the Victory Temple vision.
Thank you to: Deacon and Mother Bolds, Deacon and Sister Crain, Deacon and Sister Cyphers, Elder and Missionary Doyle, Mother G. Johnson, Sister J. Johnson, Sister N. Martin, Sister P. Moye, Deacon and Sister Perry, Sister V. Proby, Sister M. Smith, Mother B. Streeter, Sister E. Suell and Sister T. Suell. Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
My testimony has been the same over the years; the Lord is richly blessing the ministry at New Direction Community Church in Vancouver WA. We are right on track with our purpose and our mission. The ministry has helped an orphanage and church in Ghana, while we stand fast in our commitment to our outreach ministry on the streets of Portland. We know that only what we do for Christ will last. All of our other ministries are also going forward with renewed and continued blessings.
I encourage everyone to continue in your spiritual growth. The only way you can grow and mature in God is to STAY CLOSE by committing yourself to the house of God. We are living in the last days and we need to stay close so that we are able to hear the voice of the Lord. The devil wants to separate you from the people of God and the House of God so you will not be able to draw strength in your time of need. Stay faithful to God and the Church and you will be blessed; you cannot make it on your own. Continue to pray for one another and our ministry.
